Bakkafrost, or sometimes called Faroe, Salmon has a similar taste and texture to our other farm-raised salmons (and is sushi-grade!). Compared to Atlantic Salmon, Faroe Salmon is more flavorful and has a higher oil content, which is sure to keep your salmon from drying out when cooked. Compared to New Zealand King Salmon, the Faroe Salmon is more mild, leaner, and not as rich and luxurious. Overall, it is an excellent option for those who are looking for something more rich and flavorful than Atlantic Salmon, but at a lower price point than New Zealand Kings.
Cooking Tips & Recipes
For cooking, all varieties of salmon are very versatile and are often prepared in many different ways. Some of the most popular include grilling, steaming, baking, pan-searing, and sautéing. Because Faroe Salmon has a good natural taste, simple seasonings and cooking methods are recommended; stay clear from heavy spices or wood smoke. Faroe Salmon is also an excellent option for sushi!
