Flavor Profile
Think Steelhead looks like Salmon? You’re not too far off.
Steelhead are a species of trout that act just like Salmon–migrating into the ocean, then returning to freshwater rivers to spawn. Growing to the size of Salmon in the wild, Steelhead have thick, bright orange fillets. Their flavor is very similar to Salmon, with a hint of robust earthy Trout flavor.
Recipe substitutions include: Arctic Char, Salmon, Trout– don’t forget to adjust cook times according to fillet thickness.
